I see that Brent Bozell’s Media Research Center has joined in a dishonest attempt to attack Google, Dan Savage, gays in general and the liberal mediaTM for SpreadingSantorum which has created a considerable “Google problem” for Rick Santorum. If anything, the whining of Bozell, Porno Pete, Santorum himself and others confirms that this is an effective form of protest.
Is anyone saying same-sex couples can’t love each other? I love my children. I love my friends, my brother. Heck, I even love my mother-in-law. Should we call these relationships marriage, too?
If the Supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual sex
within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right
to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to
adultery. You have the right to anything .
Whether it’s polygamy, whether it’s adultery, whether it’s sodomy, all
of those things, are antithetical to a healthy, stable, traditional
Santorum has gone on to say considerably worse things about gay people. These things don’t bother me personally. I dismiss them as the ravings of an ignorant blowhard. What does bother me is the potential effect that these things could have on a gay child. A gay kid in Mississippi might have to hear this bigotry repeated by others who actually agree with Santorum. A gay teen in Texas might not have the peer support to deal with and process this gay hate. The results could be catastrophic.
