I’m sure that the Church’s anti-gay auxiliary (National Organization for Marriage) will get right on this. Add it to their massive to-do list. Apparently, civil unions are also a holy sacrament? According to the Catholic News Agency:

A Colorado proposal to recognize same-sex civil unions is a
“dangerous and unjust” effort to redefine marriage warns Bishop James D.
Conley, the apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Denver.

“We do not know the long-term consequences of creating a parallel for
marriage, distinct from its ancient and natural meaning. But we do know
they will be severe,” Bishop Conley said in his Jan. 11 column for the
Denver Catholic Register.

He said that a renewed legislative push for civil unions in the state
threatens to erode the “unique status” of marriage as between one man
and one woman.

English: A woman makes her support of her marr...

“Unjust?” What I find unjust is not allowing loving couples to marry and to enjoy the benefits of marriage. What find unjust is to deny the children of same-sex couples the security and stability afforded by marriage. What I find unjust is that the Church has the chutzpah to meddle in the affairs of state; seeking laws (or lack of laws) in defiance of the establishment clause. What I find unjust is the state trying to pass off separate-but-equal civil unions as equality to avoid religious opprobrium when these schmucks are still going to bitch.

This idiot also has the temerity to say that he doesn’t know the long term consequences but he knows that they will be severe. My Ouija board doesn’t seem to work that well. Just what kind of test do you have to pass to become a bishop?
