Either Dr. Andre Van Mol is misrepresenting the infamous Renerus study, he did not read it or he does not understand the sampling. Van Mol, a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association, claims that a recent study of lesbian Parenting by the Williams Institute at UCLA is flawed.

He then claims there is a more credible study
by sociologist Mark Regnerus of Texas University, who found
children raised by same-sex parents do tend to have more
psychological problems later in life than those raised by
heterosexual parents.

Of course, the “research” that the good doctor is referencing did not study same-sex parents. If he would take the time to actually read the thing it was essentially a study of heterosexual parents and their natural offspring where one of those parents had a same-sex affair and where the child was aware of that affair. Perhaps cheating spouses make crappy parents.

Regnerus to Focus on the Family:

I take pains in the study to say this is not about saying gay or lesbian parents are inherently bad.

I said “lesbian mothers” and “gay fathers,” when in fact, I don’t know about their sexual orientation.

Van Mol previously advocated reparative “therapy” for gay children. He opposed the recently passed California bill that eliminates the use of the procedure by licensed practitioners.
