Gary Randall is the shady anti-gay Oregon pastor who
seems to have made a living by running anti-equality campaigns in Washington
State. Randall used to have a Portland, OR TV show but has been off the air for more than 20 years. Today, Randall writes about Washington marriage equality:
We are not only defying God’s model for marriage, we are violating a
principle of nature that has absolute consequences. We are living in The
Cut Flower Syndrome.
Actually, Randall is referring to the Cut Flower Culture which is a term coined by conservative Will Herberg when he wrote for the National Review in the mid-60’s. That’s the same Herberg who wrote that the civil rights movement was destroying the
fabric of American society by being too disruptive and demanding equality too quickly. Sound familiar?
Essentially, Herberg’s cut flower culture meant (a half century ago) that American society would not survive without returning to its Judeo-Christian roots.
By the way, Mr. Randall is still soliciting contributions to his Faith and Freedom Foundation and Faith and Freedom Network. The IRS revoked the tax-exempt status of both in May of 2011.
