As has been reported elsewhere, a baker in Gresham, Oregon is under investigation for refusing a cake to a lesbian couple. The women claim that Aaron Klein, owner of Sweet Cakes called the women
“abominations to the Lord.” Klein denies saying that, but admits that he
wouldn’t make the cake. We will see this in a NOM scare ad and I won’t rule out this having been intentional for that purpose.

There are four irrefutable absolutes here:

  1. This has absolutely nothing to do with marriage and;
  2. Whatever words were exchanged are irrelevant. This couple was denied service and;
  3. A bakery is a public accommodation and;
  4. A public accommodation is required, in Oregon, to serve all comers.

In other words, the shape of this controversy is the same as we have seen time and time again. This schnook is no different from the idiot who drives a trolley around Baltimore and doesn’t want to serve gay couple. Bottom line:

Too fucking bad! We won’t stand for this.

It’s a simple principle really. If I open a restaurant I have to serve skinheads with swastikas tattooed on their foreheads. If that’s a burden then I should choose a different line of work. Keep in mind that, during the Jim Crow era in the Bible Belt, there was a religious basis for not serving black customers.
