I know a thing or two about Jewish persecution and then our near extermination at the hands of the Nazis. One need only read Victor Klemperer‘s diaries I Will Bear Witness in two volumes: 1933-1941 and 1942-1945: Jews, who comprised a very small percentage of Europe were systematically removed from German society subjected to the Nuremberg Laws and then eradicated from the face of the earth.
Christians represent the overwhelming majority in the Americas and Europe. Christian property has not been confiscated and none are required to live in ghettos. I haven’t seen any Christians forced to wear a cross on their apparel. Nor, for that matter, are civil service functionaries meeting to figure out the most cost and time effect means of extermination. These invalid comparisons trivialize the Holocaust. Citing such comparisons to advance anti-gay policies is reprehensible!
Yet that fact does not stop Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Mueller
Then there is the tackling dummy. I refer, of course, to Ken Hutcherson encouraging the anti-gay faithful:
Are you willing to stand up and be counted, my Christian brothers and sisters? … Or are we going to be like so many of the Germans, French and Americans who stayed quiet as Hitler systematically destroyed the Jews.
Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel has called reproductive choice “a Hitler kind of killing machine.”
The fact is, I see Hitler and Nazi references virtually every day. There were six million dead Jews (including a slice of my family). How on earth does that compare to gays criticizing Christians over their organized homophobia.
