English: Maggie Gallagher at the Cato Institute

On Maggie Gallagher’s blog, she asks; “What Other Issue Has Experienced Such a Rapid Polling Shift as Marriage?” She then offers a chart showing the recent uptick in people who consider themselves “pro-choice.”

This is a frequent theme from the religious right. The “logic” usually goes something along the lines that the Supreme Court has created a 40 year controversy in Roe v Wade. The court should not create a similar, endless, controversy in marriage.

The threat of a potential controversy is irrelevant to the issues in both Perry and Windsor. What are they going to do? Protest marriage equality for decades after is is effected nationwide? About all that will accomplish is pissing away more money. Even their money bag     Sean Fieler     has to reach the point of recognizing diminishing returns.

I am reasonably certain that a similar argument was made prior to Brown v Board of Education. It was similarly irrelevant and Southern governors no longer obstruct schoolhouse doorways.
