The rabidly anti-gay and antisemitic L. Brent Bozell III doesn’t like a play. From his Media Research Center site, Leo Brent Bozell The Third writes “Gay and Godless on the Public School Stage.” This was originally posted on March 30 but MRC re-pushed it to their RSS feed today. And what was bothering Leo Brent Bozell The Third?
… the taxpayer-funded Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter
School in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts. The school is in
South Hadley … MSNBC host
Rachel Maddow has a house there.
Smack dab in the middle of the Lenten season … they scheduled performances of a play called “The
Most Fabulous Story Ever Told.” Make no mistake: This is a deliberate,
and intentionally vicious attack on Christianity.
Aside from the “vicious attack” hyperbole he seems to think that it is important to know that Rachel Maddow lives in this school district. Leo Brent Bozell The Third does not; LBB-3 lives in Virginia. LBB-3 also failed to note that this was the Passover season as well. No surprise there as Bozell has little use for Jews.
At issue is a satirical comedy. It should be no more offensive to him than SNL’s Hanukkah Harry is to me (and I always thought that Harry was a hoot). But let me make things even simpler for Leo Brent Bozell The Third;
If you don’t like it
However that would ruin Bozell’s favorite pastime; Self-victimization. Bozell’s favorite thought process is “poor me.” It pervades everything that his organizations do.
In point of fact, there is much more to “Fabulous” than Bozell is capable of appreciating. Written by multi-award
winning playwright and screenwriter Paul Rudnick,The Most
Fabulous Story Ever Told is
his comical retelling of the Bible with Adam and Steve and Jane
and Mabel beginning in the Garden of Eden.
banished, the quartet survives the centuries – including time
on the ark, slavery in Egypt, and finally life in contemporary
New York – with their one-liner-spitting tongues firmly planted
in their cheeks.
New York Times critic Ben
Brantley described the original New York production by noting
“While a work that retells the Bible from a flamboyantly
gay perspective might seem to be only an exercise in impiety,
there’s reverence in Mr. Rudnick’s irreverence, and an earnest
warmth beneath the frivolity … Line by line, Mr. Rudnick
may be the funniest writer for the stage in the United States
today, and he confirms that reputation withFabulous.”
By the way,Rudnick lives in New York City with his partner, Dr. John Raftis, a sports medicine and rehabilitation specialist.
