No matter how preposterous the talking points,Brian Brown, head of National Organization for Marriage, repeats them as if they were heaven sent truths. True or false; Logical or absurd; It’s all irrelevant to someone who believes that he is doing God’s work. Keep in mind that Brown lives in a world where popes are infallible and one must be obedient to the teachings of bishops. The logic goes something like “I don’t have to be correct or even truthful if I am doing what Jesus wants me to do.” “False witness” seems to be a concept that applies to people who don’t think that they are in concert with their lord. The power of selective observation.
Furthermore, experienced, well trained managers make a habit of having people around them who will stand up to the boss. Brown is surrounded by acolytes who will agree with the most ridiculous propositions if they come from their leader who is possibly chosen by God to do this work.
Last night’s A Tough Week… NOM Marriage News doesn’t disappoint. First Brown quotes Scott Spear, an obscure Rhode Island lawyer who has become a spokesman for marriage discrimination:
It won’t be long before gay ‘marriage’ activists start pressing hard
their new found rights on the faithful in Rhode Island. In Vermont,
Christian innkeepers were sued. It was Christian florists in Washington
state. Elsewhere photographers, bakers, event venue operators, notary
publics, justices of the peace and town clerks have all been targeted
for punishment if they do not agree to go along with gay ‘marriage’ in
violation of their deeply-held beliefs.
This is just fiction and Brown knows that this is fiction. According to this theme, anyone who is found in violation of anti-discrimination ordinances is a victim of marriage equality. A member of a Christian Identity church who owns an inn cannot deny lodgings to blacks, gays or Jews. Indeed, Brown undoes himself because most of NOM’s so-called victims have been “victimized” in states that do not even recognize same-sex marriages. In many locales, public accommodations are not permitted to discriminate against gay people. Period.
If you are a Miami florist and don’t want to provide flowers for a gay commitment ceremony because you are a Christian, you need to find a new vocation because that form of discrimination is against the law. Brown continues on his own:
Targeting The Children
… the people I’m most concerned about are the children
in Rhode Island, who for the first time will be educated by this new law
to believe that the rights of adults to marry any person they love
trump a child’s right to a loving mom and dad.
Really Brian? Just how does marriage alter the family composition? Wouldn’t the existing children of gay couples be better off if they had married parents, Brian? And while we are demonstrating so much concern for kids, when did NOM ever advocate for anti-bullying programs or, for that matter anything that benefits children directly. Brown continues:
Sometimes that education will be direct: In Red Hook, New York,
parents last week were outraged to find that 13 and 14 year old girls
were asked in their public school to pretend to be lesbian couples and
ask each other for kisses in a school anti-bullying assembly. When
parents objected, their school told them basically to stuff it!
First of all, none of this really happened. It’s overblown nonsense. The local news reports of this “incident” are here and here. It’s called willful ignorance. And what does any of this have to do with marriage? Concluding, Brown mentions International Organization for Marriage:
International Organization for Marriage
Meanwhile, despite massive ongoing grassroots protests from the
French people, the French parliament voted to redefine marriage. As I
told the press,” Even though the same-sex marriage policy being foisted
on an unwilling public is profoundly unwise and anti-family, no citizen
should ever express their disapproval through violent means. …
That is a pants-on-fire lie. Brown knows perfectly well that the majority of French citizens support marriage equality. Moreover, Brown finally condemns violence when it no longer serves his purpose. The mindset is similar to people flying airplanes into buildings for their god. Anything goes if you are convinced that God is on your side.

Well, IOM just became one country smaller. Finally, we get YAV
In Brussels, Belgium at a panel discussion about free speech,
Archbishop Andre Leonard was abruptly assaulted by four protestors who
said his “homophobia” was the reason. They squirted him with water
bottles shaped like the Virgin Mary, according to the Global Post.
Oh the poor dear. While gays in Paris were getting the crap beaten out of them for being gay, this poor schmuck got spritzed with some water. That’s not an “assault.” It is a nonviolent way of expressing disapproval and this has nothing to do with marriage. This is about the Church’s continuing coordinated campaign of LGBT deprecation. I know “but he’s a bishSHUP.”
Then he is personally responsible for the defamation!
