PA Gov. Tom Corbett

Gay couples are racing to pick up marriage licenses in Pennsylvania now that US District Court Judge John E. Jones III has ruled that the state’s ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional.

County offices in Philadelphia are staying open late to give out applications. The office in Pittsburgh is taking applications online.

Republican Governor Tom Corbett has not announced whether or not he will appeal Judge Jones’ decision. Pennsylvania has a three-day waiting period after obtaining a marriage license.
