According to Diego von Stauffenberg, director of development at National Organization for Marriage:
The March for Marriage is on June 19th and we’re doing everything in our power to make it HUGE! The bigger the March, the clearer the signal… to the courts, the media and the country… that marriage is worth defending!
What kind of oblivious bliss do these idiots live in? Marriage equality is in the courts and, at least so far, the courts favor equality over discrimination. As for the American public, they have already weighed in with support for equality. And, Diego, you are not for “defending” anything. Your organization exists as a proxy for the Roman Catholic Church for the purpose of trying to ban same-sex marriage. Diego continues:
Rev. Senator Ruben Diaz has offered to fill 100 busses with pro-marriage heroes from the bronx [sic] and NJ, on what he is calling the “2nd annual Bus Vigil to Washington”. His plan is to depart the Bronx/NJ at 4am in a convoy of 100 busses and he asked NOM to help fund the 100 busses needed for this “Spiritual Journey.”
You gotta love the “Rev. Senator” bit. Now it’s a “Spiritual Journey” (in caps). Are they handing out LSD or something? But it gets better:
Can you help with this 100 bus pro-marriage convoy by sponsoring a bus? Or, perhaps, part of a bus? Each bus will bring up to 55 people to the March and costs around $2,000. You can sponsor a bus or part of one online by clicking here or by mail in response to the Presidents Council letter you received a few weeks ago.
“We got us a convoy.” What? The people on these buses cannot afford to chip in $36 each? Or does this money actually end up in NOM’s coffers so that they can pay their chairman, John Eastman, a boatload of legal fees for futile litigation? Mike Huckabee is going to address the supporters of marriage discrimination. Isn’t that worth a few bucks? You can watch Huckabee on Fox, saying the same shit, for free and in the comfort of your home.
