I thought that we were done with Janna Darnelle. Darnelle, a pseudonym, wrote a rambling anti-gay diatribe because she is very pissed off that her husband left her for another man and seems to have primary custody of their children.

I noticed last night that Witherspoon Institute’s house faggot, Doug Mainwaring, works with CanaVox. CanaVox (funded by Witherspoon) is a group of mothers supposedly concerned about marriage. Mainwaring is one of the ten mothers who is a regional leader, I shit you not. The mothers form reading groups.

Session 1 includes not only an anti-gay essay by Ryan Anderson but Janna Darnelle’s sob story. They also include a 2012 anti-gay polemic from Jennifer Fulwiler titled Conversation with my gay friend. It’s not a conversation and I doubt that she continues to have any gay friends if she had one in the first place.

It seems that session one isn’t about marriage. It’s about the Catholic Church’s obsession with opposing same-sex marriage. They know that Darnelle’s piece is intellectually dishonest (if not factually dishonest). It doesn’t matter so long as they can get a group of Catholic women together for a hatefest. When they get to Session 3:

Family Watch International, “Understanding Same Sex Attraction” (A summary of the research about the causes that contribute to feelings of same-sex attraction; interviews with experts in the psychiatric field, and personal testimonies of men who overcame same-sex attraction) (video)

Family Watch International is a hate group according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. The video that they point to is on YouTube. According to the description:

This documentary is an eye-opening experience for many as it presents
clear evidence showing that no one is “born gay” and that many people
with unwanted same-sex attraction have been able to change.

I recall watching this thing about a year ago. As I wrote last December:

FWI continues to make the preposterous claim that “engaging in
homosexual behavior can correlate with serious mental and physical
health problems.” … They
trot out the usual NARTH crackpots including Floyd Godfrey. Godfrey’s
claimed MA is from Ottawa (Kansas) University and would be in Christian

The whole thing was just so crazy that it didn’t warrant much commentary. It is relegated to the same pile as one of Porno Pete’s announcements. Getting back to the readings:

Session 7 is titled “Loving the Same-Sex Attracted.” Sure. We all know where that is going. Catholic “love” of gay people is hate packaged as something else.

Session 10 is all about same-sex parenting. It includes readings from crackpot sociologist Mark Regnerus and professional victim, Robert Oscar Lopez.

Session 13 is about “transgender identity.” Of course these folks don’t believe that there are transgender people. God doesn’t work that way. “They are just confused.”

It seems that Witherspoon’s CanaVox is just another anti-gay hate group. I need to send an email to SPLC this afternoon.
