|Either the guy in front is immense or those kids are minuscule|
Much has been written about the American Society for the Defense of Tradition Family and Property (TFP). In simplest terms, for TFP simply whisk together one part Opus Dei with one part John Birch Society. For Student Action just add a half-part Westboro Baptist Church after first removing the Baptist pit. “Voila” — TFP Student Action.
TFP runs a small boarding school, St. Louis De Montfort Academy in Herndon PA. The school is not accredited and kids spend more time in prayer than academic study. In 2012, the school paid total salaries of only $67,000. $29,000 of that
went to the Director. I realize that staff are performing a religious
service but it’s simply not competitive. Relying on volunteers to teach
seems problematic and limits selectivity.
They are spending nearly $40,000 per year on travel which, presumably, is to take
the boys from protest to protest — with questionable educational value.
These kids are in an extreme ultra-conservative religious bubble. Perhaps they have ambitions of becoming Catholic monks or priests. I call it child abuse. I suspect that the students’ parents have considerably different opinions. According to TFP Student Action:
If the battle for natural marriage is lost to the homosexual movement,
the future of the family will also be lost. Few things are as important
to the welfare of society as true marriage and, therefore, the need to
protect and defend it has never been more urgent.
They seemingly schlep their students, and others (possibly graduates), from place to place to protest marriage equality. They have been doing this for years and it doesn’t seem to dawn on them that their efforts have been futile. Apparently, Johns Hopkins University was recently in their cross-hairs (this is the Westboro part):
Not all campaign stops were equal. The scorn for natural marriage at
Johns Hopkins University was widespread. Absolutes, truth, reality,
virtue, right and wrong, and the existence of God were openly mocked at
this center of “higher” learning where the only acceptable position
seemed to exclude the nature and benefits of true marriage. That is
sadly how “tolerance” plays out on so many liberal-leaning campuses.
example, this is how one student responded to the polite offer of a TFP
flyer titled 10 Reasons Why Same-Sex “Marriage” Is Harmful and Must Be
Opposed: “If you even say one word to me, I will (expletive) kill you!”
They always claim to be the victims of attacks. They do incite rage. Unfortunately we and our allies sometimes take the bait. They have been pretty busy pissing people off this fall:

Even if these teens and young adults ended up at a Catholic college they would require considerable deprogramming to be successful. Last April they were evicted from the University of Notre Dame by campus police. They are not exactly critical thinkers.
