Rich Beeson, Marco Rubio’s deputy campaign manager, has failed LifeSiteNews‘ purity test. Last year, Beeson was a signatory of Ken Mehlman’s amicus curiae brief signed by several hundred Republicans in favor of marriage equality. That transgression begat, from LSN:
Marco Rubio’s deputy campaign manager is a gay ‘marriage’ activist
A pivotal member of Marco Rubio’s campaign actively encouraged the Supreme Court to impose gay “marriage” on the entire nation by judicial fiat.
Senator Rubio’s deputy campaign manager, Rich Beeson, signed a legal brief asking the U.S. Supreme Court to redefine marriage in last summer’s Obergefell v. Hodges case.
The amicus curiae brief, which was signed by 300 Republican operatives whose names spill over 24 pages, argued that having the court discover a nationwide right to same-sex “marriage” served “conservative values.”
This follows revelations last year that Rubio’s staff held quarterly meetings with the Log Cabin Republicans, a homosexual group that fought for gay “marriage.” Sen. Rubio reportedly did not attend those meetings, but Gregory Angelo, the group’s president, told Reuters last spring that Rubio’s staff sought to find issues they could “partner on.”
A seasoned Republican operative, Beeson was Mitt Romney’s political director in 2012. Beeson is the guy who punched a Rand Paul staffer in a bar in Michigan. LifeSiteNews.com is an ultra-conservative Catholic site.
Apparently the rapidly homophobic Rubio campaign is not sufficiently hateful to suit LSN. Rubio has made it clear that he would rescind President Obama’s executive order protecting LGBT employees of federal contractors. Rubio has said that he would only nominate justices to the Supreme Court who would reverse Obergefell and he would protect people like Kim Davis who refuse service to gay couples. Rubio’s Marriage and Family Advisory Board is a veritable hate group. Members include outrageous bigots like Ryan Anderson and Ken Blackwell.
