The anti-gay hate group, Liberty Counsel, sent a letter Wednesday to the North Carolina House and Senate offering pro bono services in defense of the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act. The act strips a number of political sub-divisions of nondiscrimination laws protecting gay and transgender citizens. The letter sign by Mat Staver is critical of North Carolina AG Roy Cooper who is refusing to defend the new law. According to Staver:
Despite his unjustified refusal (which is a disturbing commentary on
modern legal ethics, and potentially grounds for impeachment), Liberty Counsel is ready
and able to provide that defense, should our assistance be desired.
And no. Discretion is not grounds for impeachment. Liberty Counsel doesn’t seem to win any of the litigation that they get involved in.
