Thursday, in an effort to get an anti-transgender petition signed, Anthony Verdugo writes: “In Florida, we will continue to protect our children from ALL rapists, murderers and all criminals.” Anthony Verdugo, head of Florida’s Christian Family Coalition is, to put it succinctly, batshit crazy. He is also impervious to facts, including the truth that no transgender person has ever harmed anyone else by virtue of using the bathroom consistent with their gender identity.

Only Verdugo could come up with the notion that a  transgender rights ordinance creates a “violation of civil rights.” His civil rights. And that was two years ago. He was just getting warmed up. A couple of years ago he was also pushing the idea that a majority of African-Americans voted for
Florida’s same-sex marriage ban. Therefore, if a judge deems the ban unconstitutional then he or she is a racist. Apparently this all seems perfectly normal to Mr. Verdugo. Did I mention that he is insane?

Verdugo is so nutty that I stopped writing about his exploits. However, I am going to start keeping a list of the GOP politicians who show up at CFC events and ask them if they support such crazy and irresponsible talk. CFC isn’t even a not-for-profit organization according to the IRS.
