This week, 2nd Vote scored Intel Corporation and awarded it a “1” on its five point scale. Intel’s sins are (in brief):
- Supporting the 2015 Paris climate accord.
- Partnering with a non-profit that supports Common Core.
- Scoring 100 on HRC’s Corporate Equality Index.
- Supporting non-profit organizations that donate to Planned Parenthood.
- Supporting the Urban League which is opposed to Stand Your Ground laws.
Alternatives? Glad you asked:
I get why a conservative Christian would find a problem with support for marriage equality depicted by an HRC score of 100. I sort of get the demonization of Planned Parenthood although compassionate Christians should appreciate the many services that Planned Parenthood provides without regard to payment. For the life of me I cannot understand the opposition to conservancy. The way I see it, we all have a responsibility to planet Earth. Common Core? How did a set of standards for educational achievement, arrived at by educational professionals become an issue? Stand Your Ground seems very un-Christian to me. Turning the other cheek is too much to ask for but Stand Your Ground is exactly the opposite. 2nd Vote conflates Stand Your Ground with Second Amendment rights. That, too, is a stretch.
I have written about 2nd Vote in the past. According to them:
Our goal is to help you make better decisions when you cast your 2nd
Vote every day by letting you know where your money really goes when
you’re buying a product, eating at a restaurant, or supporting an
2nd Vote is a group of conservatives who are dedicated to helping you be
informed about the everyday choices you make. We believe you can make a
difference, and with 2nd Vote you will.
