Bob Trent, ADF’s media director, either didn’t get the memo or simply doesn’t care. Alliance Defending Freedom is still advocating for passage of the First Amendment Defense Act. FADA is finished. After substantial criticism its sponsors fed it the necessary poison pills to issue the toe tag. Republicans are not going to vote for a bill that now validates same-sex marriage. Labrador has not even submitted his latest revision because it would be embarrassing.

In a piece titled “Freedom matters: In defense of the First Amendment:

Across the country Americans must choose between their deeply held beliefs and making a living; pro-life pharmacists forced to dispense abortion inducing drugs, creative professionals facing jail time for holding to the belief that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Alliance Defending Freedom clients and attorneys recently testified before congress in support of the First Amendment Defense Act and the Conscience Protection Act. Legal counsel Kellie Fiedorek joins Freedom Matters to discuss why these bills are needed to ensure that the American experiment survives where all are free to believe and peacefully act on those beliefs.

ADF is pumping a bill that would have given conservative Christians special rights to discriminate against gay people. All that was required was the disapproval of same-sex marriage or gay people having sex. Moreover, the discrimination was licensed to federal contractors.

Family Research Council withdrew support while NOM has been silent. National Organization for Marriage and Brian Brown must be supremely embarrassed because they were using FADA as a vehicle for fund raising.  Even if they were able to get this out of Oversight and Government Reform I never thought that they could get past House Ways and Means and certainly not past Senate Judiciary.
