John Stemberger, Florida’s most influential anti-LGBT bigot, has sent out an “Urgent Action Alert” from Florida Family Action1. The alert screams in large bold print (which I will not reproduce) horror at a rule change by Florida’s Department of Family and Children:
Florida Governor Rick Scott’s office is about to oversee a DCF rule change requiring minor girls in foster care group homes to live in rooms with and sleep right alongside of boys who “feel” like they are girls.
Contact Governor Scott immediately and ask him to stop this madness and protect children in foster care by requiring only ACTUAL biological girls to be housed in girls’ group homes.
Madness? No because transgender boys and girls pose no threat to anyone. They are not like Josh Duggar. Exactly what is Stemberger’s malfunction? Stemberger’s rabid hate of LGBT people suggests insecurity with his own sexuality. Among the talking points that follow is this gem:
Many of the children in Florida’s foster care system come from troubled or abusive homes. Forcing a girl or boy to share a room with a person of the opposite sex, is not only inappropriate, but could also be physically or mentally traumatizing for victims of prior sexual abuse.
While transgender children do not traumatize other children, Stemberger is perfectly comfortable willfully further traumatizing trans kids. SPLC has not designated Stemberger’s operations as hate groups. Nevertheless they most certainly are.
