Craig Allen Jungwirth is a sad tale of what I suspect is a lack of attention to mental illness. The brief criminal complaint (see below) reads like a diagnosis of disorder. It is also an interesting window into the processes of the FBI.
Jungwirth scares the hell out of me. At the same time he garners some sympathy. 30 years ago Jungwirth was at MIT (from which he seems to have graduated). Today he is a wannabe party promoter who lives at home with his mother in Wilton Manors which has one of Florida’s most prominent and vibrant gay communities. He has a lengthy history of harassment and at least part of his business strategy involves getting competing events closed down.
What scares me even more than Jungwirth is that there are others like him. They seethe with anger over their own failures. Part of the basic fabric of our society is that nobody is ever at fault. These individuals build a narrative around themselves that puffs up their own importance while blaming their failures on gays, blacks, Muslims or whomever is convenient. I know from my own struggles just how easy it is to believe that people are determined to do you harm.
There is no entry on the docket explaining the reported hospitalization of Jungwirth.
