Thursday, Bill May is in a peach over how Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo “corrected” Time Kaine. We haven’t heard much from Bill May lately. His Marriage Reality Movement (Actually Catholics for the Common Good) was pointless and seems to have crashed. Once again May delights us all with the soundness of his logic and the depth of his intellect.
The bishop provided an example that we can all learn from. He frame <sic> Church teaching and described marriage in terms that make it clear what we are for (rather than against) and why. He provided a rationale for civil recognition of the reality of marriage as a matter of social justice.
Ah, another variation of the losing argument. It is abundantly clear that Mr. May and Bishop DiLorenzo are opposed to same-sex marriage. The why remains unexplored territory. These people have had about twelve years to come up with reasons what gay couples should not marry. To be valid those must be defined as consequences. Maggie Gallagher assured us that gay marriage has consequences. What are they? To suggest that social justice is served with marriage discrimination is obscene.
As for the bishop he is as full of shit as the rest of the Vatican’s eunuchs. According to him we deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and we should be free of unjust discrimination.
I couldn’t care less about the Church’s disapproval of gay people. Unfortunately, though, there are parents and children who do care. The Church continues to intentionally diminish the ego strengths of gay kids and that is a form of abuse. Obergefell settled the issue. It’s up to the Church to reconcile with the law of the land.
