Next week Newt Gingrich will be doing an event for Log Cabin Republicans. Apparently Tony Perkins was unavailable. On Wednesday, September 28, Gingrich will be joined by some relatively inoffensive GOPers for Spirit of Lincoln ’16. I would think that Log Cabin could find a Republican who is more credible and less homophobic than Gingrich. I wonder how much the organization is paying Gingrich to do this event.
One of the participants will be Rachel Hoff.
No individual illustrates the futility of Log Cabin Republicans better than Rachel Hoff. Hoff was the first openly gay member of the Republican Party Platform Committee. The DC delegate was only able to get about 30 votes out of 112 just to have a thoughtful conversation among the party about same-sex marriage. Just a discussion was off the table. In spite of her presence the committee crafted and approved the most anti-LGBT platform in the party’s history. What was the point of Hoff’s presence? The cordiality of her “colleagues” masked their disrespect and distaste. Why is she still a Republican?
In October Newt Gingrich returns to form.

On October 20, Gingrich travels to Virginia Beach, VA to keynote an event for David Lane’s American Renewal Project. the project is sponsored by American Family Association which SPLC designates an anti-LGBT hate group.
Let’s make it crystal clear: Those who embrace homosexual marriage and
homosexual Scouting – or homosexuality in general – know little and
practice nothing of Christianity.
—David Lane, WND, June 5, 2013
David Lane is a Christian extremist. The objective of Lane’s Issachar Training is to get evangelical pastors elected to office in order to effect a right wing theocracy in America. Gingrich is there to advance the cause and probably make a little money.
On October 27 Gingrich goes to Dayton to do exactly the same thing for the American Renewal Project in Ohio.
Gingrich is a whore. He will do his historian shtick wherever he is paid to do it. However, of the three events (one for Log Cabin and two sponsored by a hate group), ample evidence exists that Gingrich is most in his element with the hate group. Someone doing events for an anti-LGBT hate group has no business doing an event for an LGBT group. It makes no sense. Log Cabin makes no sense. As Blue Dog Democrats they could actually be influential. As Republicans they are little more than a mild irritant.
Two antagonists can reach resolution on many matters if good faith exists in terms of mutual respect. Once discussion is off the table, good faith fails to exist. Log Cabin Republicans seem unable to grasp the simple concept that they are off the Republican table. Most of the party consider them evil perverts. What is the point of their existence?
