National Organization for Marriage has announced yet another “matching grant” which may — or may not — really exist. It takes balls to ask for more money given that NOM has spent tens of millions of donors’ dollars with absolutely nothing to show for their efforts. Their leader, Brian S. Brown is shameless. Nevertheless, in an email titled “Big News That Will Boost NOM” they list the things that NOM is going to do with the money:
We’re working in Washington, DC to push the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA). There will be opportunities this fall where FADA could be advanced through various legislative avenues, and we are preparing for those opportunities.
FADA is DEADA. It has been poison pilled by its own sponsors when it became clear that it was unconstitutional. It never got out of committee.
We’re urging the US Supreme Court to take up a critical case out of Virginia that will give us the ability to stop President Obama’s attempt to force his dangerous gender ideology on our children and grandchildren. Our brief to SCOTUS is being considered right now.
NOM, along with another organization, sponsored an amicus brief. It has already been submitted and needs no further financial support. In other words, the aptly named Brown is full of crap.
We’re working to elect key champions for marriage, religious liberty and gender clarity to high office by educating voters in key states about the issues and the candidates. This includes working to keep control of the US Senate and House, and supporting champions in critical state contests.
So far they have endorsed one Senate candidate in Louisiana and the election is in less than three weeks. Donors would have more impact supplying funds to candidates they support, eliminating NOM’s overhead.
We’re working on important educational materials to promote marriage, religious liberty and the reality of gender. Our adversaries are working overtime to redefine these issues, and we’re on the front lines battling for the truth.
After all, repackaging the catechism and teachings of the Catholic Church is expensive.
