First an update:

I did receive a brief note from Father Hodges’ bishop who said that he wanted to speak with the priest. We’ll have to see. Hodges is not an ordinary blogger. For many people he is a symbol of authority. What concerns me most is whether or not his inflammatory blog posts are indicative of what he would say to the parent or parents of an LGBT child.

We will have to see if he moderates at all.

Opioids and moi:

I am not currently taking any opioids. However I expect to have a revision of my hip replacement sometime in 2018. My hip is a mess. The structure was destroyed by a bullet ricocheting around the bones and tendons. This will be my fourth surgery and each procedure has been more painful than the last. I usually walk a good three to five miles daily but that is becoming uncomfortable.

I am going to require a healthy supply of Oxycodone (not Oxycontin) when I am discharged. I am very concerned that measures to control the crisis will affect me. Physicians are afraid that their Part V prescriptions will put them on a list. This may become an issue similar to abortion with less stridency.
