Jennifer Roback Morse promotes discrimination
and persecution of gay people

Hate group leader Jennifer Roback Morse (Ruth Institute) has sent out an email titled “Attention! Refugees from the Gay Life-style, their friends and family.” Morse goes on to explain:

Have you ever heard the term, “Refugees from the Gay Life-style?” No? That’s because we invented it to describe the people who have in the past experienced same sex attraction or lived the gay life-style.

Talk about a marginalized, under-served group of people. Also, brave. For supposedly not existing, they sure take a lot of flak.

My friends who have walked away from a same sex lifestyle are among the holiest people I’ve known.

That gibberish is a result of the fact that Morse is a fundamentalist Catholic. Morse has many odd discredited beliefs. These are based, in part, upon the utterances of prelates who lack applicable education and experience to understand, much less to pontificate about, sexual orientation. These opinions, stated as factual “truth,” are formulated from the interpretation of ancient screeds which those men accept as literal truth.

Among these beliefs is the notion that a sexual orientation (one that Morse disapproves of) constitutes a “life-style.” It is an appeal to stereotype. According to the projection we are all diseased, flamboyant drug addicts who are preoccupied with the abuse and recruitment of teens. Morse also believes that sexual orientation is a choice.

Morse concedes that some people experience “same-sex attraction” which she dismisses as something comparable to a predisposition to abuse drugs or alcohol. In other words being gay doesn’t mean that one has to have gay sex. All of this bullshit is a lame effort to conform her reality to the teachings of the Church.

The fact that these beliefs are religious dogma does not insulate the Church from the charge that they constitute prejudice and bigotry. Morse’s uncritical promotion of these errant beliefs makes her a bigot as well.

Morse is correct about one thing. Those people who choose to be celibate rather than to express their sexual orientation are apt to be devout Christians. They are making (or in many cases claiming to make) a life altering choice about their sexuality. If there is a god, s/he did not intend that we should be celibate.

From there Morse goes into an incoherent defense of another hate group, MassResistance, and their publication: The Health Hazards of Homosexuality:

A flyer promoting a book called “The Health Hazards of Homosexuality” was in the Welcome Bag at the Values Voters Summit in DC. Donald Trump spoke at that event. The Left-Wing press went bonkers: as if the President checked the Welcome Bag before he agreed to speak!

None of the flurry of articles on this “scandal” said a word to refute the main premise of the book. Homosexual activity is hazardous to your health. I wrote an article about this Tempest in a Teapot. Find it below.

If you have loved ones involved in the gay lifestyle, please do take a look at the article.

The premise of the book is absurd. Most normal people recognize that it is absurd per se. “Homosexual activity” means gay sex. Gay sex is not unhealthy. Unprotected gay sex is unhealthy. Unprotected heterosexual sex might also be unhealthy. HIV is more prevalent in the gay community. We get it. Brian Camenker’s intent is to promote the idea that discrimination against gay people is not only acceptable but that it is required. That is what hate groups do.

I do not have to dispute CDC statistics to assert that being gay is not unhealthy. Nor do I need to dispute any of the book’s selective observation to assert that being gay is not unhealthy. It is discrimination and persecution that are unhealthy to gay people.

As for the book, it is an amateurish attempt at a literature review by people who lack the training and experience to perform one. Morse has a PhD (in economics). She knows better than to promote something like this book as authoritative. She does so because it supports her anti-gay bigotry. That says more about Morse than her organization’s hate group designation by Southern Poverty Law Center.
