|Brian S. Brown – “I can spread this BS with my eyes closed.”|
Brian S. Brown, leader of the anti-gay National Organization for marriage will stoop to any level of depravity to raise a few bucks. It has never occurred to Mr. Brown that, while he has accused gays of obscene immorality, he is the guy who lies to donors for money and cooks NOM’s books to cover up misdeeds. NOM has even had the temerity to assert that gay people present a danger to children. What message is Brown sending to his own children about integrity?
Today’s missive from Brown is titled: “We are Jack.” I am not sure who the “we” is but it certainly includes Brown because the “we” are a collective of arrogant bigots who think that their approval is necessary for us to live our lives or that their approval is important to us. What this case is really all about is denying conservative Christians the right to express their disapproval by withholding service. Their discrimination is all neatly cloaked in scripture and that makes it okay according to them.
Phillips’ attorneys now claim that it’s about free speech which is just bullshit-after-the-fact. Phillips didn’t know that his speech was supposedly compromised (as compelled speech) until Alliance Defending Freedom started to argue the point in federal court. There is no record of the issue when it was before Colorado’s courts.
Today, we are launching a nationwide educational campaign to alert Americans to the importance of this case. Please watch our video now, and then share it with everyone you know via social media and email.
So what? What possible difference is that going to make to the outcome of this case?
Brown then piles on more bullshit:
This case involves a Christian baker, Jack Phillips, who declined to devote his creative talents to celebrate a gay ‘wedding’ because doing so violates his deeply-held religious beliefs. But the implications of the case go far beyond forcing Christian bakers to violate their beliefs. It involves the rights of every American to live out their faith in their daily lives and could determine if the constitutional guarantee of the free exercise of religion still exists, or if it will be trumped by political correctness.
I told you they were arrogant. Who asked Phillips to “celebrate” anything? He was prospectively to be paid for smearing cholesterol laden butter-cream over spongecake. The ACLU will argue this case — not me. Suffice it to say that Free Exercise does not extend to violating state law. We already have plenty of case law. Brian Brown has been claiming to offer the alternative to “political correctness” for years. It doesn’t mean anything. It’s just a buzzword.
Brown, you see, operates on superstition. Some celibate prelate asserted that gays are objectively disordered. Hence it must be true. After all, what does science know about human sexuality compared to sexually repressed theologians?
Of course then comes the inevitable:
Will you help?
In addition to making a financial contribution to help us spread the video to more people, there are two other things you can do to help us in this incredibly important undertaking.
- Sign our petition to let Jack Phillips know that you appreciate his courage and thank him for standing up for the rights of people of faith.
- If at all possible, please come to Washington to join us for a rally before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, December 5th.
None of that is at all relevant. At this point donors deserve to get fleeced. I am reminded that NOM held rallies at the Supreme Court in 2013, in advance of US v. Windsor and again in 2015 in advance of Obergefell v. Hodges. And they prayed. Oh did they pray — scraping knees and manipulating rosary beads. They are praying again and I suspect that they are facing yet another inevitable loss. I hope that I am correct.
