Peter LaBarbera

I have speculated that the demise of Peter LaBarbera might occur from scarfing in women’s underwear while being paddled by a naked twink. There is just something that is not quite right about a guy who is obsessed with the sexuality of other people.

On Sunday, LaBarbera offered “Homosexual Perversion-fest – Mid-Atlantic Leather Weekend – Returns to DC and Hyatt Regency.” It is not something that appeals to me but I couldn’t care less what consenting adults do in their bedrooms. The event is sold out by the way. Furthermore, while this event is gay-oriented, far more heterosexuals engage in this kind of activity than gay men.

LaBarbera seems to know much more about leather than I do. In fact, it is fair to say that he knows more about gay sex than I do. It is more than a passing fascination. He writes:

Folks, if homosexuality truly is a perversion, and an abomination especially detestable in the eyes of God, you would expect it to spawn other perversions, like men play-acting as sexual “puppies,” or occupying whole hotels for a weekend of deviant orgies. This is exactly the case in the LGBTQ movement. Such depravities are proudly on display this weekend in America’s capital, Washington, D.C., as the Mid-Atlantic Leather Weekend (MAL) returned to the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill this weekend.

If there is a god I doubt that s/he is terribly judgmental. And even if s/he was, the only people who would be affected are participants in the event that LaBarbera disapproves of. What exactly is his point?

The definition of perverse is showing a deliberate and obstinate desire to behave in a way that is unreasonable or unacceptable, often in spite of the consequences. Which is perverse? The sexual activities of consenting adults or the obsessive and continuing denigration, over a long period of time, of a group of people that LaBarbera disapproves of?

This is heightened by the fact that LaBarbera’s disapproval is of people more than their sexual conduct. In other words, the activity is just a predicate for expressing disapproval of gay people. In contrast, I disapprove of what LaBarbera does rather than who he is. I have no animus for conservative Christians. People can worship aluminum siding for all I care. It is really none of my business.

Much of LaBarbera’s post contains quotations from tweets directed at him:

When I first tweeted about this Friday, most of the pro-LGBTQ enthusiasts responded by accusing me of wrongdoing (and being a homosexual), which is typical, like this snarky tweet:

“Most?” Did he take a count. Here is one tweet that LaBarbera doesn’t like:

LaBarbera was victimized by an anonymous tweeter:

Because I exposed MAL’s insanity, you see, I really deep-down wanted to attend. Such is the wickedness (and projection) of America’s most coddled sin movement.

Actually there is a history of LaBarbera attending events like this and covertly taking pictures on private property without the consent of the subjects. Moreover, he hasn’t “exposed” anything. It is a public event at a good hotel. It is not the supposed exposure that subjects LaBarbera to ridicule. It is the fact that he is obsessed with passing judgment on the activities of other people that have no effect, whatsoever, on him.

I am tempted to say that LaBarbera wants people to judge gay men by leather enthusiasts. That is true but it also suggests that there is something wrong with the leather folks and that is not the case. What does this guy talk about with his kids I wonder? Every now and then I mention something about the classical music I love, my passion for Linux or books that I have read (currently Grant).

However, LaBarbera seems to have no interests other than the sex lives of gay men and some extreme form of Christianity. In his reaction to that tweet, LaBarbera refers to insanity. It seems to reside on Bainbridge Dr. in Naperville, IL. That guy in a puppy mask put it away and went back to work, possibly in a suit and tie. LaBarbera’s personality disorder is a full-time preoccupation. He is incapable of understanding that the puppy mask is irrelevant to who and what the person wearing it is all about.

Oh, and the puppy probably pays his taxes. That is something that the sanctimonious LaBarbera probably does not do. His hate group, Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, has not been a tax-exempt entity since May 15, 2015 because he was unable to file tax returns. Is he filing corporate returns now that his tax exemption was revoked? And how, exactly, did he file personal returns based on corporate records which he was seemingly unable to compile? Are we to believe that he is sufficiently organized to file 941s?  Seriously?

Gay sex is legal. Leather is legal. Tax evasion is a felony.
