It’s the same old crap from the same old crappy places. This time it is Starkville, Mississippi that objects to LGBT people. Not all of the people of Starkville mind you but four of their seven aldermen voted against the application of Starkville Pride. None of the brave aldermen who voted against the application would state their objection. I think we all know what this is about. These schmucks do not approve of us because of their religious beliefs. We don’t need their approval to be who we are. Unfortunately we do need their approval for a parade permit. Approval that they chose to withhold.
A number of citizens attended the board meeting trying to convince the City to approve the request. “This isn’t a march. This isn’t a protest. This is something that will bind this community together,” said Alexandra Hendon.
“We’re asking you to join us,” said Bailey McDaniel, stating that the event would be a celebration of inclusion.
Two members of the public spoke against the parade, imploring the aldermen not to allow sin to be celebrated in Starkville’s streets.
According to resident, Dorothy Isaac:
If anything should be held up and down our streets, it should not be this. God made Adam and Eve. Do not turn our city into a sin city.
Thomas Rogers, pastor of Josey Creek Missionary Baptist Church:
I think this is a very inclusive, a very friendly place, a very friendly city, a very friendly county. We’ve done a lot of things for the university and to attract businesses and influential people. But every city has to have limits. Cities without walls are easily taken.
Limits to what exactly? Cities without walls …? What is this cretin even saying. You cannot spout crap like that while claiming to be inclusive.
