It’s raining on the frog; not with frogs

Hate group leader Tim Wildmon (American Family Association) is too ingenious for words. He cannot seem to accept the simple fact that gay people exist and that they date — just like straight people. Moreover, retailers want to attract gay customers. In doing so they attract straight customers who like the idea of the company appealing to their gay friends and family.

According to Timmy:

First, I want to thank you for being one of over 163,000 signing the petition to Walmart President Doug McMillon, requesting that he return Walmart back to its founding principles by removing the pro-homosexual video on their Facebook page and agreeing to remain neutral on the controversial issue of homosexuality.

A few weeks ago, AFA requested a meeting with Mr. McMillon on your behalf but were told that he was unavailable to meet with us. However, we were offered a meeting with his representative and that meeting has now been set for later this month.

I cannot imagine why the CEO of Walmart does not want to meet with a group of crazed religious zealots. “His representative” could mean anyone who can keep a straight face when they claim that gay people are somehow “controversial.”

These questions remain for Mr. McMillon:

Are you aware of the 163,000 families who are offended by the ad and have signed AFA’s petition to Walmart for its removal?

Those are 163,000 people who should not be offended. Corporations don’t yield to kooks.

Have you viewed the ad and read the gay-affirming comments posted by Walmart with some posts accompanied by the rainbow flag? The rainbow flag, commonly known as the gay pride flag or LGBT pride flag, is a symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) pride and LGBT social movements. The appearance here is that Walmart, Inc. has joined the LGBT movement. Is this true or false?

Oh how dreadful! Tim Wildmon, a rabid bigot, cannot handle the fact that most people are not bigots. The appearance, by the way, is that Walmart has made a business decision to attract gay customers. Walmart also wants to attract LGBT employees. It received a perfect score of 100 on the latest Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index. Get a clue Tim.

Are you aware that Walmart has only commented on the positive posts on the ad but has completely ignored the hundreds expressing objections? Does this mean that Walmart does not care about those who have objections and have been offended?

Right. AFA expects the company to make bigoted comments while they are trying to attract gay customers. Tim Wildmon is just too shrewd for words.

163,000 families supportive of AFA – including many of your own customer base – have been offended by the gay-affirming ad. What is your defense of the ad? These families are awaiting a response – and deserve one.

You have your response. The Facebook ad is still up and running.

AFA has always maintained that Walmart and other corporations should not take sides by promoting the LGBTQ social and political agenda. Why has Walmart chosen sides against the traditional definition of family with this ad?

Two legitimate sides do not exist. If people think that gay sex is a sin then they are free not to engage in gay sex. However, attempting to impose those same values on others is simply unacceptable. We are a secular society. We do not have mullahs weighing on on what is or is not appropriate.

To suggest that approval of gay people is a rejection of traditional families (marriage) is idiotic. The two things are not mutually exclusive. The simple fact is that gay people have been allowed to marry nationwide for nearly four years. It has not been raining frogs. At least not yet.
