Whatever you think of Pete Buttigieg he certainly is poised.

I have no idea who I will vote for in the Democratic presidential primary. My support might be conditioned on who matches up the best against Trump. In the general election my choice is simpler. The demonstrably worst Democratic candidate would be better for the country than the sociopath who currently occupies the Oval Office.

Mayor Pete is not the first gay candidate for president. That would be my friend Fred Karger. Fred has the backbone to have run as a gay Republican.

Mayor Pete sure does bring out the crazies. Pete’s detractors are anti-gay and anti-choice. CNN attributed the protests to Randall Terry, an irrational anti-choice zealot.

One protester inside an event disrupted with shouts of “Grandparents, do you want your grandchildren following his example?” He was probably referring to Pete’s sexual orientation. He then continued with a tirade about abortion followed by “God loves you!”

At one of the events protesters shouted “remember Sodom and Gomorrah.” That biblical reference has become synonymous with homosexuality. Many scholars disagree.

Check out this schmuck. I cannot make out what he is saying but he looks very agitated:

Here is (apparently) the same guy inside the event:

I do not yet know where Buttigieg stands on issues that are important to me including gun safety and healthcare. Superficial points of view are less important than specifics. Quality-management 101: A quality result requires a quality process. Moreover, an assessment of how one plans to defeat Trump is important. Bernie was very impressive the other day as he won over a Fox News audience. Pete is very fast on his feet and unquestionably intelligent.

I think that many of us are looking for someone who is kind and decent. Someone who does not thrive on chaos. Someone who will put an end to the reality TV daily drama. Someone who is highly organized and who pays attention to the details. Someone who doesn’t watch much television and who doesn’t tweet. I am describing President Obama but he is no longer a choice.

In the final analysis, the best president will act on what is best for the country first, last and always.
