“Brian S. Brown does not have a high regard for the intelligence of NOM’s supporters.”
This afternoon’s money-grub from Brian S. Brown (shilling for National Organization for Marriage) is titled: A freight train is headed right at us. How ominous! Brian S. Brown serves up a pack of lies about the Equality Act:
I’m speaking of H.R. 5/S. 788, the so-called Equality Act which I call the InEquality Act because of the way it imposes the extreme LGBT agenda on average Americans, especially people of faith.
First of all there is the premise that there could be 60 votes in the Senate in the current term. I doubt that McConnell will even allow the measure to come to the floor. Even if the Senate were to miraculously concur with the House of Representatives, the White House has announced that Trump will veto the act.
Then there is the notion that NOM could do anything about it if the Senate miracle occurred and Trump pondered changing his mind to pander to LGBTQ people over the religious right. Based on what? The stellar records of NOM and Mr. Brown? What are they going to do? Send out a bunch of email?
Then there is the notion that the quest for Equal Protection and Due Process constitute an “extreme LGBT agenda.”
When you get through all of that there is the false claim that nondiscrimination adversely affects average citizens. A majority of Americans believe that discriminating against LGBTQ people is wrong.
I would love to hear Brown explain how discrimination against him based on his religious choices is generally illegal while discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity should remain legal.
And before he utters “First Amendment” there is nothing about Free Exercise extending to nondiscrimination protections. Brown is protected by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which the Equality Act would amend.
Brown goes on to mention the imbeciles at Log Cabin Republicans as if that will make a difference. There are more buttons to click leading to a donation landing page:
There are no specifics. Through 2017 NOM burned through $70 million with nothing to show for it (as Mr. Brown looted the organization). Brian S. Brown does not have a high regard for the intelligence of NOM’s supporters.
