PragerU’s Will Witt trying to make a point by asking students a rhetorical question about gender.
According to Stephen Strang (Charisma): Infinite Genders? Viral Video Reveals Scary Ideology Infiltrating College Campuses:
Mark 10:6 says that in the beginning, God created human beings “male and female.” But nowadays, people think there are multiple genders—some even say infinite! That may shock you, but the progressive gender indoctrination on college campuses is so strong, it’s hard to find students who don’t agree with it.
It “may shock you” but Mark 10:6, an ancient text, is irrelevant to medical science. In point of fact, Mr. Strang is hyperbolic. The overwhelming majority of people, including transgender people, identify as either male or female. However, gender is understood as a continuum with male and female at the extreme ends. Thus, the spectrum has infinite possibilities but people understand their gender as either male or female.
I am pretty sure that most college kids understand the difference between gender identity and the gender spectrum.
To prove that point, PragerU’s Will Witt interviewed several students from UC Berkeley, asking them a simple question: “How many genders do you think there are?” Most of the students said there is an infinite number of genders. One said 72, to be precise. But when Witt pressed them to share what those genders were, the students couldn’t name much more than male and female.
Most of the students were correct. Witt’s question was intentionally disingenuous; intended to make the students look foolish. There is no nomenclature to points along the gender spectrum. As I previously wrote, almost everyone identifies as either male or female.
“It goes to show the brainwashing that is happening in this country, when you have these students to believe this ideology that there are all these different genders and it’s all on a spectrum, but then when asked to name them, they can’t even name any more,” Witt says. “Their convictions go an inch deep. They’re very shallow.”
Witt is an imbecile. He would probably agree that color is a spectrum with infinite possibilities. How many colors are there? Can Witt name every color? HTML (web coding) supports 147 colors. Only 17 are named. The rest are produced with hex code. The 17 standard colors are: aqua, black, blue, fuchsia, gray, green, lime, maroon, navy, olive, orange, purple, red, silver, teal, white, and yellow and I had to look that up.
Will Witt is projecting when he calls those students shallow. They are stating a scientific fact. Good for them. I watched the idiotic video with the clear understanding that it was edited to produce the confusion that Witt is going for. Ask me and my answers will not be included in the video.
Witt believes the attempt to deconstruct gender goes back to socialist and Marxist ideologies, which are not belief systems that are very family-oriented. The hippies of the 1970s and ’80s became college professors, he says: “By saying that you can be pretty much whatever gender you want and destroying the meaning of man and woman, they are discrediting what America is all about. It’s horrible what’s happening.”
Please, medical science has known about gender identity for a very long time. Gender confirmation surgery is older than open heart surgery. In 1917, Dr. Alan L. Hart (nee Lucille), a prominent physician and researcher, was the first documented trans man in the United States to undergo a form of gender-affirming surgery. Gender certainly has nothing whatsoever to do with economic or political systems.
Moreover, there does not exist a sinister effort to “deconstruct gender.” Where do these people get these ideas from?
“It’s seeping into culture on all levels,” he says. “This is why the political convictions of those students are so shallow. It’s because they’ve only been given a snippet of this. And they’re told that if they don’t believe this dogma, then they are transphobic or bigots. But they don’t actually do a lot of research to better understand what it’s all about.”
Gender is not a matter of politics or political conviction. Nor is it a dogma. Mr. Witt must be a religious conservative because he is assigning something he does not understand to a doctrine or a philosophy. It is astonishing that Witt would claim that it is the students who do not do a lot of research. Witt is allowing religious dogma to replace evidence-based science.
[Witt] actually dropped out of college to work for PragerU and stand up for his conservative values. He says he meets conservatives all the time who are too scared to say anything in defense of their beliefs. But what if we all decided not to be afraid anymore? What if we chose to speak the truth in love and graciously defend what we know to be true?
Right. There is no research that Witt likes because people are too afraid to do it. If you believe that, there is a matter developing in Ukraine …
