The hate group leader has a knack for finding pernicious defenders of the faith.
The doctor is a quack.
Jennifer Roback Morse (Ruth Institute) has interviewed Dr. Michael S. Parker, an OB/GYN based in Ohio. Parker is also president of the Catholic Medical Association which means that he has subordinated medical science to Catholic dogma.
Vagina doc claims to have expertise regarding the treatment of gender dysphoria. In other words, his medical erudition comes from Vatican catechists. What? Is that not reassuring?
A great deal of the video deals with “personal liberty” not to be vaccinated. That is the liberty, not only to get sick and die, but the liberty to cause others to get sick and die. At about 46 minutes into the video (I wonder how many brain cells I sacrificed) we get to Morse’s favorite hobby: Denigrating trans kids, their parents and their doctors.
There are no subtitles and I do not take shorthand so this is a “best efforts” proposition:
We’re actually working on alternative delivery of healthcare systems … trying to get back to a more personalized healthcare that respects the dignity and worth of every individual …
Later on, keep that text in mind. See if Parker is sincere about valuing the “dignity and worth of every individual.”
“It is safe to assume that Dr. Michael S. Parker had input and rendered approval [of the letter his group sent to members of the Senate].”
Several of our members have been very outspoken with regards to the medical aspects of the treatment of gender dysphoria and the fact that this is really about experimentation on children. … Many of them have faced severe criticism … but we have many videos on our website … In leadership training in June we actually had role playing on how to discuss these issues with our patients …
In other words:
- The adolescents who are prescribed puberty blockers are stupid.
- The parents of those adolescents are stupid and negligent.
- The doctors who treat those adolescents are negligent, stupid and committing malpractice regardless of the applicable medical science.
I cannot find the videos. However, I did find a March 17 letter addressed to members of Congress regarding the Equality Act. It is safe to assume that Dr. Michael S. Parker had input and rendered approval. The letter reads, in part:
In light of this current lack of an evidence base to support “gender transition” interventions in children and the serious safety risks involved, if you pass H.R. 5, it will put our members who practice primary medicine, pediatrics, urology, plastic surgery and obstetrics and gynecology in the terrible position of being forced to prescribe harmful medications and undertake life-altering surgical procedures without any scientific justification.
Both paragraphs are outright pants-on-fire lies.
“Furthermore, what this rhetoric means is that these folks have become theologians in contrast to physicians.”
Secondly, children who grow out of gender dysphoria are irrelevant to the issue because those kids are highly unlikely to transition. Persistence of the condition is a function of its severity. Thus, growing out of the condition is indicative of the fact that the child did not experience significant distress.
Furthermore, what this rhetoric means is that these folks have become theologians in contrast to physicians. They are promoting a treatment (or withholding treatment) in direct contravention of medical science.
Moreover, they are poisoning the well. This kind of rhetoric discourages parents from supporting the incongruent gender of their children. According to the science, their levels of anxiety and depression will be much higher than those of kids who benefit from parental support.
“If doctors are expected to place their religious beliefs over medical science then they forfeit any legitimacy normally associated with being a professional medical group.”
The second paragraph, above, is equally dishonest. No doctor is forced — or will ever be forced — to provide treatments that they do not offer. I would venture to say that no member of the Catholic Medical Association has the training and experience to provide transgender medicine.
Doctors ↠ theologians ↠ dishonest political activists.
Jennifer Roback Morse tees up this bullshit with rhetorical questions. She doesn’t care much about medical qualifications as long as her guest is a sufficiently pious Catholic. In defense of the faith they have license to spread dishonest rhetoric.
The Catholic Medical Association is a contradiction of terms. If doctors are expected to place their religious beliefs over medical science then they forfeit any legitimacy normally associated with being a professional medical group.
