Transphobic absurdity and anti-abortion madness
have much in common.
The dishonesty is indicative of the absence of a valid argument.
Thursday, I am the blessed recipient of an email titled: Our children are at risk. That’s actually true. LGBTQ kids are at risk of being oppressed by conservative Christian know-nothings who are addicted to magical thinking.
Anti-abortion laws are supposedly intended to protect women. Furthermore, women — particularly Black women — are apparently being abducted and subjected to involuntary abortions by the ultimate evil-doer: Planned Parenthood.
Similarly, transphobia is not about defending scripture. Oh no. Marginalizing trans youth and subjecting them to indignities is an effort to protect kids from, … something evil.
Moreover, in case you haven’t been paying attention, trans youth are adherents to “transgender ideology™.” I often wonder whether or not these people believe their own bullshit.
Meridian Baldacci is one of those people.. Ms. Baldacci is employed by Family Policy Alliance, the political wing of Focus on the Family. Baldacci is a frequent purveyor of transphobic babble. She cannot possibly subscribe to her own spew. Or can she?
Baldacci’s baloney (treif I assure you) is easily summed up as: “If parents adhere to the best medical practices according to science then they are child abusers.”
- The rhetoric is harmful to especially vulnerable kids.
- It is wholly dishonest.
- The promoted rubbish is contrary to a mountain of scientific evidence.
- The simple truth is that all this drivel is an effort to defend scripture.
- The health and wellbeing of children is less important to these people than religious doctrine. Dogma replaces objective truth.
“Baldacci is avoiding the real issue which is gender, not natal sex.”
According to the email (adorned with a very sad looking child):
We know the truth that God created us male and female. But our children and our culture are inundated with messages that say it’s possible to change sex – that you may have been born in the wrong body. And it’s a real struggle that some youth face. The supposed solution? Puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgery. These interventions can leave children sterile and facing scars of both body and heart.
The first appeal is to religious belief: “God created …” thus and so. That is incorrect. About 1% of all babies have some form of ambiguous genitalia, such as a very large clitoris or very small penis. In about 0.1% and 0.2% of live births—genitalia is so ambiguous that medical specialists are brought in for a consultation. Furthermore, about 20% of those have ambiguous chromosomes.
Moreover, Baldacci is avoiding the real issue which is gender, not natal sex. She is side-stepping the matter because she cannot deal with the scientific fact that gender is a construct independent of sex.
So, while her deity creates mostly male and female babies, he or she has also created the gender continuum. Furthermore, he or she has also created the sexual orientation continuum. Moreover, sexual orientation and gender identity intersect at an infinite number of points.
The magical thinking addiction takes the form of: All babies are either male or female. Gender corresponds to sex in all cases. All babies are heterosexual. Anything else is a learned behavior.
Baldacci’s problem is that Bronze Age knowledge was very simplistic. She likely believes that scripture is the literal word of her deity. Faith does not require evidence. In fact faith likely exists because early mankind was unable to rationally explain many natural phenomena.
“Would Meridian Baldacci subject any of her bullshit to testimony under oath, under penalty for perjury?”
To refresh your memory of the second stanza:
The supposed solution? Puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgery. These interventions can leave children sterile and facing scars of both body and heart.
The prospect of pediatric surgery is a lie and Baldacci knows it. More importantly, she offers no alternative to the clinical practice standards of the American Academy of Pediatrics. or those of the Endocrine Society.
Furthermore, Ms. Baldacci is not qualified to offer an alternative. Moreover, she deliberately fails to recognize the seriousness of gender dysphoria which, untreated, is as lethal as aggressive pediatric cancers. According to the testimony — under oath — of Dr. Deanna Atkins, who is an expert:
Ah, but Baldacci does have a solution:
“Oh, and the ‘medical professional’ is Dr. Andrè Van Mol who has been lying about LGBTQ people for well over a decade.”
Register TODAY for our FREE webinar “The Truth About Transition,” happening next Tuesday (September 14) at 1 PM ET. We’ll be talking with a medical professional to provide answers to:
- What makes someone male or female?
- What causes gender confusion?
- What are the dangers and long-term side effects of transition?
- How can we meaningfully protect and help children?
- What can parents do?
- And more!
Baldacci has indulged in the logical fallacy of begging the question. Her solution is a diet of unscientific religious gibberish.
Oh, and the “medical professional” is Dr. Andrè Van Mol who has been lying about LGBTQ people for well over a decade.
Van Mol is an elder of the cultish Bethel Church in Redding, CA. Bethel Church is a leading promoter of Pray Your Gay Away.
Van Mol practices family medicine. There is no evidence that Van Mol is qualified as an expert regarding pediatric gender dysphoria or, for that matter, that he has ever treated pediatric gender dysphoria.
In his physician’s profile, Van Mol admits that he has never done research. Furthermore, he has no post-graduate training.
The idea that parents should listen to a religious crackpot with no applicable training and experience is remarkable. The idea that Dr. Andrè Van Mol is more qualified than the American Academy of Pediatrics is jaw-dropping.
Meridian Baldacci and her employer, Family Policy Alliance should be ashamed of this sham. They are not!
